The Irish Cricket Song

The Fingal Folk Club has been going great of late with some memorable performances being conjured up week after week. If it’s not Teddy on the banjo, blazing out some lively tunes, then it’s Peter on the accordion showcasing his incredible talents with a set of polkas, or some beautifull slow air.

This song is called The Irish Cricket Song

November Thoughts

When the dark November gales

drive us back  to shore

we pass the time with stories

and tales of fishing lore

we cried when there was bad times

and laughed when they were good

a man ca’nt live on dry land

when the sea is in as blood

Martin Byrne Music News

There’s an autumn feel to the air–especially early in the morning. we w’ont mention the dreaded winter for another while yet. Although the winter is a time for long nights in by a warm cosy fire and sometimes the brain kicks into action and the songs start to flow…now i think i’m looking forward to it .

See you soon–some changes coming down the pipe–watch this space.

First Night Back at the Folk Club

Martin Byrne

It was really nice to play the Fingal Folk Club again after a long break. All the regulars were there, with some new additions and lots of talent on show. I got to perform The Night Visit, a song associated with the great Luke Kelly. It felt good and the audience liked it a lot. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Flowers On The Water

Martin Byrne musicWe cast flowers on the water

and we watched them drift away

then the moment overtook us

as we joined our hands to pray

now the seagulls flying overhead

keep watch where brave men lie

we cast flowers on the water

when we said our last goodbye
